I'm after a 32" LCD for my dad.
His old fashioned TV is all blurry

Will probably wait like Barny says innit.

For our bedroom I just bought the cheapest Samsung I could get my hands on.
Think it's a 4-series LCD.

Anything you find in stores today will be more than sufficient for your needs, so just choose the one that you get the best offer on.

if you wait until around xmas or just after currys normally do a blinding deal on these, remember couple years back when they were more expensive they were doing full HD LG 42" LCD for 270 odd quid , they done it last year aswell after xmas

reckon this year they will be selling them at around £150 in sales (for a 32")

yeah ours is the same, thought it was a bit strange

dom, all the tv discussion threads on here seem to get bombarded with technical info of which i dont understand. its the same if i ask an advisor in a shop.

all i want is a 32'' telly thats gives an image similar to my 42'' plasma (hd ready) which im guessing is 720p?
which doesnt weigh the earth as i have plasterboard walls.

someone said in another thread that led tv's are just lcd screens with led backlights, true or false?

also, are led tv's thinner than lcd's?

True and True. It's all answer in the LCD thread 30 posts down in Off Day. Or do a search in Geek Day as it's been posted before.

I'd keep an eye out on Hotukdeals, seen some real bargin a few weeks back. And i would always have a quick gander at reviews or even AVForums (and seeing if there are any posts about the panel), will give you an idea of any particular issues or anything ie: uneven backlighting etc.

Even with the discount? Remember the prices advertised are without discount...

popped in there yesterday and the tv's don't seem any cheaper than internet prices at the moment. going to wait closer to when they shut in mid december.

We have a 40" LED TV and it's deffo much thinner than the 32" LCD TV we used to have. And lighter too.

Is there a Best Buy near you, like in Bluewater or somewhere like that? They have at least 10% off all their TVs because of their closing down sale, I think their TVs were roughly same price as Comet/Currys etc. (probably why they are closing down  ) so may be worth a punt.
