quote: I guess aircrack somehow lets you use protected networks without knowing passwords etc? How does it work? Do you need to run a client on you PC, or is it all done from the bridge? i.e. could a phone or a games console connect up if it were succesful in opening a network?

You can get Wifi Repeaters but obviously you'd need to place it within range of the original source signal, which i'm assuming isn't possible. And i'm also assuming that you don't have access to the source/router/hotspot, so the only option you have left is to use a bigger antenna either attached to your wireless card or setup a repeater (some routers can be configured to act like a repeater, certainly a lot of linksys/d-link routers that can run custom firmware like DD-WRT) in your house and attached a bigger/high-gain antenna to that.

Is there any such thing like this? Im just out of reach of a hotspot near my house and wondered if there is anything that i can plug into my computer that would be able to receive signals from further away |
