Kath, can't yo just add a data bundle into you current contract undead of buyin it out right? It would definately work out cheaper than buying the contract out and taking out a new one.

Buy the phone out right and take out insurance through your bank or a different company

They usually release a 'new' one in June/July. I wouldn't hold out for it though. It may not actually come and if it does you could just sell the 3gs one and buy the new one if you were that bothered and it won't cost that much more as you'll still get a good price on the 3gs one

Thats what I was thinking Tom - it's going to be about £450 for the iphone and then a good £200 to buy out the contract which means it'd be much better to just wait... And see if the prices come down.

I'm going into vodafone tomorrow to pre-order mine

In some cases you are better to buy an iphone out right but £500 is ridiculous to fork out in one go and i bet you don't save all that much.

It's going to cost quite a bit to buy out your current contract considering you have 9 months left of it.

Im in the same boat as you my contract runs out in aug and I was thinking of buying out my contract and getting an iphone on contract but I think il wait to see what happens.

My contract is £35 a month with 600 mins, free texts, free internet and free 02 to 02.

My idea is to keep the phone for 12 months and then sell on eBay and put a little bit to it and get a later phone, possibly a Windows Mobile of some sort giving i'm a Microsoft Technician.

Planning on getting a Sim Only deal then upgrading the phone out of my own pocket

My work iPhone is Free   Can't tell them apart which is annoying, lol

Id at least wait until macworld sometime in jan as there are rumours of them announcing a new iphone, which a. you could wait for or b. ir will make the 3g/3gs cheaper.

Well the time has come and i've decided i'd like an iPhone..

Now the question is...

Do I get one on contract with O2 and pay £40+ a month as well as about £100 for the phone and wait until September when my contract is up.. Will have to pay the extra for the phone as I wouldnt want to spend more than £40 for the contract.

Buy one outright - and then cancel my contract come September, join O2's simplicity sim for £15 a month

Buy out my current contract and take a new contract out with the iPhone

What would you advise?
