i've no idea what the problem is, but I will vouch that apple customer service is pretty damn good if it's under warranty/apple care.

Only thing I could think of is that maybe it thinks the monitor is there when it isn't?

You need an Amiga500+ processor with an external 1mb hard drive.

I've got a macbook (for iphone development mainly).

The screen comes on on start up, then goes off, then comes on at mac osx load and then goes off again.

Once booted up *yes it still boots* - if i press any button the screen will light and show the desktop for a sec or two, but then go off again. Whenever it does this the CD drive whirs away.

I've plugged an external monitor in and it works fine through the external monitor.

The LCD screen must be fine as when it does light up, it looks normal. The graphics card must be working to be able to display to external screen.

Anyone know what may be up with it? I'm thinking inverter / lcd power connection loose somewhere?
