No 3.5Gb is not a hard limit of 32bit. It depends on your configuration and O/S. We have several PCs and servers using 32bit with 4Gb RAM, they amount of RAM they can use is different on each and varies between 3.6Gb and 3.8Gb. | |

If its 32bit then you can put 4GB physically in and it will run fine. But it will only be able to address up to 3.5GB of it. | |

If your running normal 32 bit windows you can only address 3.5GB of RAM so no point getting 4GB. | |

When you run the Crucial scanner, it should tell you what the maximum is. Or will usually tell you in the specs at the back of the manual. | |

Go to www.crucial.com and run their scanner, it will tell you what type of RAM you have. | |

I want to upgrade both the RAM and hard drive on my laptop, but want to make sure i get the right ones. |
