One thing i have found now...

After running a sfc / scannow in a command prompt, it has founmd corrupt unrepairable files.

Now i have read about the wireless files in the windows > l2schemas folder going corrupt after a windows update.

Is there anyway someone can copy and then host these files off there own pc, so i can replace the ones in mine?

I dont have msn so cannot get them sent that way. Cheers guys

Go to Start, Run, type in:

eventvwr.msc

Go to Windows Logs, System

then look for anything with "TCPIP" as the source, should give you a clue why the Wireless service can't be started.

Have you tried resetting the wireless service? Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services>Wireless configuration

Try plugging your laptop into the router/modem via an ethernet cable. It may give an indication as to what is the problem i.e. the modem or your laptop.

It might be useful for you to link or explain what you have tried already.

Stops us saying this:

Have you tried changing the channels one at a time on the router, as you may have intereference from other electronic devices

you sure the wireless switch on the laptop isnt turned off ?

Had this problem with my laptop, solved it by using the 3rd party software to control the wifi connection that came with the wireless card rather than windows.

although my problem came about because the lite version of xp was a bit screwed a fresh install of xp sorted it ouit for good.

After turning my laptop off the other day, i turned it bk on to find no network. I tried connecting but no networks in view.

I then tried to repair, and got the error, windows wireless service will not start.

I have googled the problem, and tried the 2 things i have found to do, but neither have cured it.

Anyone had this problem, or no any recent things to try? as all i had found was last september time :(

Cheers guys
