Got new PS3 dropped off today. Was a 60GB one, it's just like new (even had plastic protector bits still on it).

Nice one Sony! :)

Stupid question, but as its a 60gb, will they be replacing it with a 60gb one?

Finally rang Sony's customer services dept up today. Guy was spot on on the other end. He's arranged a courier to collect mine on Tuesday and drop off a new one. Said it was out of warranty, but as it was a 60gb one and as a gesture of good will it'd be FREE. Thank you Sony! :)

Ring them and kick off saying that a piece of electrical hardware shouldent have a lifespan of 12 months and say you are getting trading standards involved you wil get it fixed.

I have done this on loads of things with no extended warranty i usd to work for comet and it happend alot

I'd phone sony anyway, back in the ps1 days I broke mine well outside of warranty, I paid them £20 or something like that and they came to my door and swapped me for a working one.

It is a different laser, i'd give them a phone if still under warranty.

Thanks for the help. It seems to just be on DVD's, not Blue Rays. Is it a different laser that reads them? Might give Sony a call and see what they say.

It is a problem with some 60 and 40 gig models it is a lazer fault and may need a fone call to sony if it is still in waranty. They bring a ps3 out when then come and get it so no waiting for 2 months like with a xbox

I had this with GTA IV. Sign out of PSN and try it again. Worked for me :)

Been having a random problem with my PS3 recently and wondered if you guys had any idea on what I can do.

Basically it's occassionally not reading DVD's/Blue Rays/Games. It seems to try and spool them up, then stutters and freezes. You can't eject the disc and have to switch the PS3 off and on again to get anywhere. The disc doesn't show on the menu's either.

Not too sure if the kids have put something in it (but can't see anthing) or if its just playing up.

Any ideas? :boggle:
