The ipod will show up as an external USB device, and therefore "My Computer" will list it.
You're probably right in thinking it's a dodgy database, best thing i would do is open up the hidden (make sure you can view hidden directories) dir 'ipod_control' and then the directory 'music' and delete the whole lot. Then resync.

In all cases i would make a backup of your music and a copy of the music directory that you have deleted. Or do it from another system.

Or just a restore and then re-jailbreak it

are there any programs where you can see the ipod as an external drive?

could manually delete it all then, but i think the restore is going to be the best option really

unchecked them all, just shows a bar of orange about 50% full :S

Looks like a reset is on the cards :(

Then that'll remove all the song/vids and that's what I'm trying to avoid doing.....

Yesterday I wanted to put a few more songs on my Ipod touch, so plugged it in to my PC, the ipod made the little noise and displayed it as charging but nothing else happened - no sign of it syncing on the ipod and nothing on itunes to say it was connected, so unplugged it and plugged it back in, then it started syncing as it normally would, but it reloaded all of my music/videos back onto the ipod despite them already being on there!
So my bar at the bottom of itunes now looks like:

The "other" in orange seems to be duplicate music/video files of what I already have but I can't see these anywhere on the ipod or itunes to remove it.

I really don't have to want to do a reset on it and re-upload all my media and iLiberty/installer etc
So c'mon g33ks - what should I do!?
