I tried front and back USB ports..also advised to take all items out and try that! still didnt work

I have USB 2.0 at the rear and 1.1 at front.

Ill see what motherboard I have and report back with any findings!

laptop is lenevo (IBM) connected instantly with no problems....!

You get any drivers or cd with it? Silly but the laptop may already have a similar driver that supports that player, you got a Sony laptop?. My mates Sony laptop came preloaded with drivers that seemed to compatible with a handycam but plugging into my pc I needed to install a software suite in order to use some of the features etc..

If it works in another machine then it sounds like the USB hub on your PC isnt able to provide enough power to it or something similar........ ive seen boards that only provide 250mA power but the standard is 500.

Tried unplugging all other USB devices? Are you using the front ports or back?

otherwise disable any on-board stuff you dont use, ie com ports, built in firewaire etc etc to free up some resources.

go into bios

look for advanced features or "advanced settings" youll see it

THATS WHAT ADVICE IVE HAD. HOW DO I DO IT!

it comes up as portable device...then turns off after like 10seconds when i try to lash a tune across etc

really pissing me off now!

Need help! how can I get into the settings of Portable devices?
