quote: Unless he only wanted a single machine using the connection wirelessly, then he doesn't want an AP! He would need multiple ip addresses if he wanted a number of systems on that one connection using an AP - and virgin only offer that on business accounts. So he'll need a wireless router if he wanted multiple systems on his connection with a home account! :| UPP - any wirless router that has a wan point will work with Virgin. Just make sure it's not an ADSL/DSL router and you'll be fine! [Edited on 25-01-2008 by Dom]

most AP's have a quick setup, or ill even offer to talk him through it if he struggles.

He will have the cable modem that virgin would have provided, so get a wireless AP with 4 port switch built in, Simple...

quote: you certainly don't want a Wireless Access point - unless he has a switch or a router already. Is it ADSL (modem plugs into the telephone socket) or Cable (you have a cable modem on a coax feed) - if it's the former, you need an wireless ADSL/DSL router, if it's the latter you need a plain wireless Router with an ethernet wan port. by the sounds of it though, she has Cable internet (ie: cable modem, coax feed to modem etc) in which case you want a plain vanilla wireless router, like what Allan posted
