Change the server name to helpdesk and set the sql site as the default site would seem the laziest option

but the server name is strange, just rather have it so we say if you have a call you need to log go to->

http://helpdesk/

instead of all that

http://SERVERNAME//LaytonHelpBoxSQL/

I don't really understand what you mean?

You can get to it by going http://SERVERNAME//LaytonHelpBoxSQL/

in IIS under the server can you just not create a new website and point it to the IP address?

Right have a website internally using IIS, but getting to it requires

http://IPADDRESS//LaytonHelpBoxSQL/

Is there anyway to configure it so the IP says a name of my choosing. the server cant connect to the internet.
