I don't either, as above I downloaded then decided against it, I wouldn't have actually used it yet anyway, I will when they get access to the processor properly and I can use it as what I would consider a proper media center because it can't play all the formats I want it to atm.

If the 360 had it it would be the best thing since sliced bread though.

 Steve, if live worked and the 360 could run linux it would be the best thing in the world.

your stuck in framebuffer mode, as there is no real drivers released. I also doubt sony/nv will actually release a proper driver set for the console either as otherwise you will get all the opensource devs sorting games out for free on linux side of it. Also would make a ps3 emulator rather easy to be made, so then bypasses any form of copy protection the console may have had. Also means regular 2d performance is somewhat lacking.

in all fairness, the ps3 is crap at regular integer calculations. Floating point is through the roof, but day-to-day your still going to get some lagging compared to a regular PC. As far as running gcc is concerned to compile things, its no faster than my athlon 2600+xp in regards to compile speed.

Hard disk may well be sata, but its only a 5200rpm disk, which in itself is quite slow. Although its easy to upgrade which is nice :)

tbh it really is no substitute to a desktop pc if you want to run linux. Its more of a posing geek factor running it on a ps3 than it is a practical thing.

OpenSuse includes the relevant files now in their PPC distro. It's even easier to install as it'll boot right from the CD without needing to mess around with a USB key (containing otheros.bld) -- plus it's arguably a better distro ;)
