if it was the hdd it would still boot up but then tell you theres no hdd installed, | |

try refitting all power connections especially to the board, try smell for any smoke usually sign of power surge, dont bother with drives etc wouldnt b them | |

I would have thought that the HDD is the component most likely to take damage when switched off at the mains | |

Disconnect all the hard-drives, and boot it up......should go through BIOS, and then give you a System Disk Error (or similar). | |

i have a feeling it could be the HDD coz u can hear the HDD spool up then die :( | |

sounds like something has gone pop, if its working for 10secs then dieing im guessing PSU is fine, i suspect motherboard has fried somehwere, or a component has given up, causing a serious lock-up or crash | |

Could be anything, really, if it's been switched off at the mains a few times......but, if you've tested with a new PSU, you can possibly rule that out. | |

id reseat the ram, check that the heatsink hasnt some how come off of the CPU as well erm. if u put a screwdriver thru the cPu have u maybe damaged the mobo | |
