	Macs are just normal pc's now anyway. It'll be even easier than it is atm to run macos on pc's soon.

	Keep up with what though? What programs do you know of that are coded or compiled to take advantage of the dual cores. Not many atm. Same as xp64. There aren't actually many 64bit programs out yet.

	Not gaming, graphic design mainly and some music stuff too. Dont think I have PCI-E slot. The PC was new in 2002.

	possibly, if you find a deal with a gigabyte motherboard. I dont think it matters that much, any new Mobo is going to be better than what you alread have. Can i ask if your mobo has a PCI-E slot or not? Also, why your thinking of upgrading? If its for Gaming, i would look at your gfx card.

	I already have a Gigabyte mobo but its an Athlon 1800+ processor, could I straight swap it for for a new gigabyte/amd bundle?

	well, i dont think its a case of "how long do they have left", they've just been overtaken/replaced by 939. Similarly to PCI-E replacing AGP. You can still by AGP, even AGP supported motherboards... but why would you when the way forward is PCI-Express :)

	what your refering to are AMDs CPUs not mobos. Well the sempron is the budget chip, which was formally known as the Athlon XP. AMD didnt like the budget chips sharing the same name as the high end chips (athlon 64) so they gave them the name Sempron. The semprons are slightly better than the Celeron CPUs but like them they are the 'budget chips. I personally wouldnt buy a sempron (ive just upgraded from a AMD 3000 Sempron). hope that helps.

	Whats the difference between the Athlon 64 and the Sempron 64? Was looking at the Athlon but the Semprons are quite a bit cheaper. Apart from the Athlon being Socket 939 and the Sempron being Socket 754. [Edited on 28-01-2006 by Tiger]
