quote: Well thats going to be pretty obvious with the way things are going. And like i said before, i would keep away from the X2s as the prices is silly at the moment, but over the next year they will come down. [Edited on 28-01-2006 by Bart]

quote: the Turion or Opteron chips? Well, again they're going to be pricey to begin with. When they're (or any other new chip arrives), the X2 chips and FX60 chips will be become cheaper, and they are fast chips. [Edited on 28-01-2006 by Bart]

I already have a Gigabyte mobo but its an Athlon 1800+ processor, could I straight swap it for for a new gigabyte/amd bundle?

well, i dont think its a case of "how long do they have left", they've just been overtaken/replaced by 939.

Can you recommend a mobo bundle, something around £150?

quote: Agreed. 939 is the way forward. You could buy yourself a nice bundle of CPU+mobo+memory something like an AMD 64 3500 and then upgrade to the X2 dual core or even X2 FX60 chips when the prices come down to earth.
