You could try EQin the final sound, but as said, you carnt really improve the sound as the sound from your tape will always be the true sound

run a line cable from hifi headphone socket into line input on soundcard then use a recorder such as sound forge or cool edit. dunno about improving quality but there will be sound processing effects which could help although I doubt any major improvments.

i have loads of tapes but a cd player in my car and i want to put the tapes on to cds. i have done it using my mini disc player but the quality is terrible
is this possible to do with good quality??
