they are working on a way to downgrade the firmware but at the mo all attemps have lead the the users bricking the PSP's
I got mine from japan and currently have, quiet a few games downloaded, and play all the old nes and snes games
You can downgrade the firmware on 2.0 anyway, and i'm almost sure that the uk ones came with 2.0 at most, 2.1 is a couple of weeks old.

BLACK
Battery Made in Japan
Console Made in Japan
Headphones Made in Korea
Power Supply made in Indonesia
MemoryStick 32MB Made in Japan
Remote Control unknown (no markings)
WHITE
Battery Made in China
Console Made in Japan
Headphones Made in Korea
Power Supply Made in Indonesia (more certification logos added on label)
MemoryStick 32MB Made in Japan
Remote Control Made in China
The buttons on the white psp are higher, non-clear (solid white), UMD open latch stronger and more powerful springs, Power button on white psp more sturdy, all the volume, home, start, select, etc buttons are easier to press - raised, and the volume level has been improved too. You dont seem to have to increase the volume as much as the black psp.
From another forum, i didn't know all of that either.

there is a differnce between white and black one.
White one you need to press 0 instead of X to navigate through the menu's and the D-Pad sits a little higher in the casing.

They are the ones you need the hacked firmware for.
They'll come on dvd most likely.
You just put them on memory stick and play.
They could be old nes games or something though unless otherwise specified.

Just as willay said
There is a value pack with a 32mb memory and a giga pack with a 1gb memory. You can buy seperate memory upto about 4gb but it cost a fair bit cash!

John is correct, there is two, but its the firmware which differs.
I believe if you have the old firmware you can run the emulated games and shit, but when you update you cannont
the problem is some games NEED the firmware to run I think, such as the GTA game, the firmware is actually included on the disk too,
