when you hit f6 and it loads the floppy does it come up saying its found the driver for whatevermake sata controller? Does the drive actually pickup in the bios? if not sata prolly disabled.

oh and if he has only one drive it wont be RAID drivers you need as you need 2 or more disks to create a RAID. You'll need the stand alone SATA drivers for the motherboard.....:)

on the MOBO cd there should be an .exe to create a RAID set or SATA set of drivers on a floppy disk. Once you've created it reboot the machine and when Windows Asks press F6 to install a third party driver/scsi driver (i think thats the wording). Whack the floppy in and load the drivers to memory.

If there's no EXE to create the drivers on the floppy then there will just be a directory somewhere on the CD containing the files (they will be names SATA or RAID or something similar). Just stick these files in the top level of the floppy and do the same as above.....

yea ive got that, but still when windows asks you to install the drivers from the disc nothing happens. we have tried all combinations and nothing works.

You need a floppy with the sata drivers on it.

my little bro has one SATA / RAID HDD in his machine.

no IDE or anything like that.

we are trying to install windows onto it but when we go through xp's installaion it says there are no harddisks attached please check power to the device bla bla.

we have got a drivers disc that came bitht emotherboard but every option we try nothing works.

does anyone know how to do it?

its a Abit AV8 motherboard.
