lol it would be perfectly fine mate, they are not related in any way! Just try and get the same brand, will ensure you get good performance. Any other problems just give me a shout :)

oh, i see, cheers :)

i have 256mb sd ram at the moment, if i was to get a 512mb, so total of 768mb... would it be stable and ok? as i thought it was not a good idea to have more memory than cpu speed!??

Ok sorry mate for being blunt. Basically, your motherboard will support any Socket 370 Pentium 3/Celeron up to 800mhz, ff you wished to upgrade it. Socket 370 is the industry standard of matching the right processor to motherboard. So Socket A would be Athlon's/Duron's, and so on, they all have different names. With your memory, you can theoretically have 2 x 512MB of RAM, with a clock speed of 133mhz (PC2100)

sorry dude im a bit lost now  im not that advanced with computers!

what do you mean i can "have anything upto 800mhz" my pc is a 700mhz Pentium 3 with two memory stick slots!

and what is socket 370? :boggle:

cheers:thumbs:

oh yeah and Socket 370!

No a gig is your maximum. And you can have anything up to 800mhz, as long as its P3 or Celeron.

oh cheers mate, my manual doesnt say sh1t about what memory to use or anything!!

are you SURE i can have MAXIMUM 1GB!!!! as its only a Pentium3, 700MHz!!

i thought the max i could have was 512mb! :boggle:

hmmm ok your board supports 66/100/133mhz clock frequency, and up to a maximum of 1GB. and VIA chipset with VIA northbridge/southbridge.
Socket 370 so only old skool Pentium 3's or Celerons will work up to a maximum of 800mhz, luckily your SW2/3 jumpers support overclocking too.

how can i check what speed memory is best for my motherboard???

Cybermonkey

well it wont run at full speed if it doesnt support it... VIA plus MSI is horse shit.

yes mate, it is a VIA chipset!!! :o is that good news or bad!

my new bios seems to be good!! computer is running fine with my single sided 256mb PC133 SD RAM! i just need some more of it now! lol

i got the BIOS from here- http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/download/dld/spt_dld_detail.php?UID=111&kind=1

i think my mobo requires PC100, but would using PC133 effect it in a bad way??

BTW, i know hardware well, and i cannot solve the problem with my board, so expect more problems! Are you running a VIA chipset by any chance?

Any of the MSI MS 6*** series are shocking when it comes to BIOS flashing. The memory should be ok as long as it is PC2100 (which it is). My MSI mobo only supports PC2300 RAM which doesnt exist anymore. Had different modules to PC2100 but DDR too, even though it wont run at full speed or let me advance the timing rates.

MotherBoard- MICROSTAR ms-6154 ver:2.1
after 2 different BIOS upgrades i have finally got the memory working fine with it...

i have- SAMSUNG 0118- 256MB sync 133MHz CL3 (single sided)
model- M366S3253BTS-C75Q0

Does anyone know if this memory is ok for this motherboard???
it seems to be working fine but i want to know if it is best suited???

and.. were can get some of this particular ram???
