yes you will, the programs you use, photoshop etc etc will speed up alot,

your renderings will become alot quicker and you defently notice other differences too,

with the price of RAM now i dont see why more people havent got 1gig

i dint get the 2800 that long ago but i am tempted to get 3200 now thats all my motherboard can handle

what i'm saying is dont buy the ram yet try some from ya mates cos when i used to have me pc repair shop we often built pc's with more than 1gb ram only to find it made it run slower! so all im sayin is check from some elses machine before you buy!

I have XP Pro ! But still does the job !

old versions of windows, like 9x and me won't run with more than 512 very well. xp home only supports trun 1gb. xp pro supports upto 2gb, as does win2k pro.

its aid that if you put more than 1 gB of ddr ram into your pc whilst running windows i can slow down the performance!

regular use in xp there won't be too much of a difference, to be honest there is little or no difference running 512 and 1gb for things like everyday use.

but when running photoshop and other memory hungry programs then you will notice a large difference, as there won't be as much paging when doing stuff.

and if anyone tries to say windows will load quicker with 1gb compared to 512mb, it won't. windows will only allocate a certain amount of memory, regardless of the total amount of ram in the computer, and will also create a page file which is 3 quarters the size of total amount of ram, so you will need to make sure you also have harddisk space.

some programs have trouble with over a gig of ram too, so you may need to check for updates if you start to have problems.

I was running 384mb 133hz now I got 768mb DDR400hz and I dont notice massive difference !

Yes 512 on top of 1gb will help a a lot, esp if running XP. Very resource hungry, i have switched most of the XP services off. waste of my time really.

1.5gb of ram should be enough! Sell your processor on ebay, use the money saved from getting 512 more instead of 1gb, and get a faster processor too :D

If you already have 1 gig i would say another 512 will make a difference aye. Can always get more at a later date if you need it. More memory is always better.
