OOOOOOFFF!!!!
Ouch, that FUCKING HURTS!!
Just got a phone call from the service manager, the coupe is ready, the final cost?
Sitting down?
£2899.17p - and that was at trade prices and with discounted labout costs!
FUCK!!
Needed:
- New recon VX-Pro engine (old one was FUUUUCKED!)
- Front brake discs and pads (old ones were worn to their limit)
- Exhaust manifold (old one was cracked)
- Belt tensioner (old one had a broken spring)
- New CV Joint (old one's thread were fucked)
- Air con regassed, oiled and dyed (apparently the air con wasn't working before, seemed fine to me though....)
All this for a car that is probably worth about £3500
Great, I suppose I better go and pick it up :o
Oh and they have valetted it for me, which is probably the most expensive car wash I'll ever have!

Marshalls said they'd do the engine swap for the same as other garages I'd rung around, and tbh I'd rather have people that know the engine inside out doing it than a general spanner man.
1.7Cdti combo van is fooking ace, done about 100 miles in it since picking it up and the fuel needle has hardly moved!
I reckon a diesel turbo will be my next car.

yeah I can vouch for the performance of the 1.9cdti's; took out a vec and it really shifted so an astra will be mint! :)

Is currently sitting on a 4 post ramp at Marshalls Vauxhall in Ipswich with it's engine removed.
There is a new reconditioned VX-Pro engine on it's way (a reconditioned Vauxhall engine, reconditioned by Vauxhall using genuine parts etc) at the cost of £1500+vat - and that's trade price and not retail!
The service manager said he'd do the labour for £400+vat when it should of been £750+vat which is a bonus.
They've just rung to say the front brakes need changing as they're worn to their limit - another couple of hundred quid and also the clutch might need doing as it's getting close to 80k miles, that'll be another £300 or so - again these are all at trade prices!
I'll get it back with effectively a new engine but a empty bank account
Oh and the service manager has loaned be one of their brand new combo vans to get me around in the meantime - 1.7cdti and it goes like STINK!
I'm seriously going to have to look at a Astra V Sporthatch 1.9cdti for my next car, performance is excellent.
Happy days:!
