Cost me £175 at my local vauxhall garage for a major service and MOT, with new brake pads at £35. Not bad i thought :)

quote: That might be the case at your garage but when my mate took his Passat to the VW garage they charged him over £300 and it wasnt even a major service. My advice to anyone is just do any servicing yourself if your competant enough to do it - you might spend £1500 on servicing over a few years which is only what you might lose on the sale of your car if you havent got your book stamped.

quote: yeh, but at £80 an hour, and like 1.6 hours, £40 odd for the mot, and £50 odd for the BFC (fookin steep IMO) and they prob charged 0.2 hours t fit the bulb....yeh its expensive, but in comparison to other dealers that was prob a fair price....

Always did my 1.2 myself. All the parts needed for a annual service come to like £18 with my discount.

surely if you take your C to a different garage (eg non vaux) then you cannot use 'full vauxhall service history' when you sell it on?

I do it myself doesnt take long, costs a lot less, you know exactly what has been done and you can choose quality of oils etc you put in. You also learn about your car and be more able/confident to carry out repairs and mods.

yeah u can take it 2 any garage, should norm b around a 100 quid. I went 2 vaux because the garage said service for 125. Then they add all these mysterious filters and seals that cost 5 - 10 quid each plus vat

i had my car in for a service this week. It was a 3 yr service & mot, so thought i'd take it to vaux. There wasn't any serious work 2 apart from change a bulb :look: and the brake fluid. Came 2 a grand total of £233. I was like wtf!!! just as well no serious work needed 2 b done |
