Bass draws a lot of power from the battery and can cause the lights to dim etc.

Powercap stores power in it and when the big bass comes in, it stops the surge of power from the battery and takes it fromt he power cap. So, the lights etc wont dim anymore.

Before buying a power cap, u should look at buying a bigger better battery. Everyone think you need a power cap, but in most cases, people dont.
