guy at my work has one of the GT40 replica's, it was built from brand new components in 1984 and registered as a B reg car, he bought the 5L( I think ford engine) in from america, since then its done like 5k miles and is currently sat in his garage with a sheet over it and a go-kart sat on the roof, he also has a lotus' and other lovely cars, refuses to sell anything or drive any of them, just likes to own them!!!

you got to be round the 25 age for cheap insurance on a kit car. I've tried being insured on my dads caterham when I was 21 and they wanted an extra £2K. i even had 4 years NCB.

there are loads of kit cars out there, why not look at something like a lambo replica, or ferrari replica kit car? Not the ones based on the MR2, as not really proper replicas!

id go for the Caterham, brilliant car to drive, so i'd guess it'd be even more fun to build before hand
