can happen. i know a couple of people that have rebuilt the top end and then the crank bearings went.but the price of that engine is a big rip

Doubt the head is damaged. 8 or 16 bent valves I would have thought. When a roller disintegrated on my brother's old 2.0 16v Ecotec Cavalier, he had 8 bent inlet valves.

My brothers 1.4 16v Sri snapped the cambelt last week, they put a new belt on and there was no compression in the engine, so im guessing teh cylinder head was mutilated.

The vauxhall specialist it went to was going to supply a 70k engine and fit it for £1200!! thats a serious rip of right? Also I was going to buy a rebuilt cylinder head of here but the vaux specialist said if we just replace the head the bottom end might go?!?! No i dont know a hell of a lot about engines but i think that is a crock of sh1t!

Have managed to get a 70k engine for £300 and a local garage will remove the old one and fit the new one for £100.

Anyone else think the vaux specialist is having a laff? trying to con my old dear i reckon

£1500 and you've got yourself a 2.0L fitted

I wouldn't listen to Vauxhall. One of my mates recently asked a local Vauxhall dealer about a 2l transplant. They didn't recomend it and sed it would be unsafe on the Corsa's chassis!!

If your local garage has a good reputation, then go with them.
