erm, the engine number is stamped on it somewhere, but i dont know where, can you get hold of the V5 from the donor car, failing that ask vauxhall, and get an engineers report at the same time. the tax, shouldnt matter, as long as its got the correct reg number on it, and cost the right amount.

nope its not, forget the vin number, thats to do with the shell and chassis. you DO need to find out the engine number of the 2lt engine, and put it in the Change of vehicle details section, under engine No, you also need to write in the new cylinder capacity, this is all you need to change. then send it t the DVLA. then when you go to get tax, on the new V5 the details will be changed and you'll have to pay more tax.....doh!! sorted....

I thought this was the case but where do i get the engine number ??

Also although the TAX is in my name and addressed to me the original V5 form is in my dads name, what do i do about that ?

oh yeh, you may need an engineers report to prove its safe to drive, and the works been carried out properly..

It is m8 when I first bought my car it was still registared as a standard gsi so I had to get an engineers report to get it changed over, costs about £100-£150.

I think you need an engineers report to go with the engine, its for proof of conversion.
