quote: STFU - all dump valves do is release pressure from the inlet pipes. this stops the air getting sucked back through the turbo. this makes a noise the DV stops this noise. also the boost gets recirculated and this helps stop the blades from slowing down so much. atmospheric DV's stop the chatter but don;t help lag between gear changes  a bleed valve is used to increase boost from actuator levels.

majority of turbo cars have dumpvalves as standard anyway. they are just recirculating ones which dont make a noise.

i thought that a dump valve is to stop turbo lag and keep the turbo spinning when changing gear?

quote: actually they stop the veins from slowing down asmuch. bleed valve is used to trick the actuator into thinking that the engine is running less boost than it actually is.

dump valves also spin the turbo on gear changes

Dump valves make silly noises, bleed valves can be used to alter boost.
