My zlet c was awesome tbh went very quickly and handled well, and was no expense spared,

Built by dan (j100rsa) and I helped where I could
I'd have another in a heartbeat

Worst thing you can do is buy a perfectly fine astra and kill for a Corsa C, the astra will look, drive and handle better than any C!

I've had few of both so not just based on internet theories.

Swapping the engine is too big a project for me, I bought a nice new gear know and have only realised it's not a lift up reverse one? :-(

Once you've had it remapped you'll want all the brakes you can get.

The way I did it was to buy a Astra turbo, when I was ready I parked it up, and took the engine out. If you manage that putting the running gear into a Corsa is easier. I know it seems a massive job, it is but it isn't too bad.

if you are going for bigger power than what the 1.8 put out then yes along with bigger front brakes. 308 from meriva vxr fit straight on if redrilled to 4 stud. if you plan on totally stripping the car then rear drums may be ok.

Is it worth doing the sri 1.8 back disc conversion?

its as easy as can be, if its not your daily driver and you have some where to do it just have a go.

I do like the idea of getting my hands dirty and will start doing easier things ( brakes etc )

Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of saving a fortune but it just seems too big a DIY project for my 1st DIY project

I found fitting the z22se into the c far easier than when I put the x20xev into the b, had a guide of 'how to' with the x20xev swap as well. no guide or other peoples threads with the z22se in to the c.
good way to learn is to do it your self then you know its done right. plenty of people will help you on here and other forums if you get stuck and you will save a fortune

If you can undo screws it's no different to nuts and bolts. It's the only way I learnt, I bought an XE Corsa which blew up after a month, so I bought an engine and had a go, and haven't looked back since. All you need really is a Halfords socket set, a jack, and borrow a engine crane.

If it was made of wood maybe? ( I'm a joiner ) and not 2 mechanically minded

It's easy enough to do yourself.
