could be that, another way of checking is if you hear any excessive road noise, jack the car up and spin the wheels, they should turn freely

think it cost me £50-60 fitted for rear wheel bearing on my sport......at a garage...not vaux though..

just got missus Fiat Seicento front one done...was £58 fitted...

Fronts can be done without a press, but wouldnt recommend drifting them in with a socket and hammer, rears are quite easy just for the bearings, but if you wanna change the races then you gotta drift them out with a hammer and flat head screwdriver, and then use a socket to put them back in.

Jack the car up and hold the wheel top to bottom and see if there's any play.

Better still, buy a torque wrench. ;)

do you need a press for the rears or is it just the front?

paul_spurrell

depends which one. rears are easier than front

Like my conservative guesses then ;)

Um rears shouldn't give you any problems. A Haynes manual might be a worthwhile investment...

Tim

Um... if you're handy with DIY then £20 per bearing and an hour to do it...
