So this is why my iphone doesnt work playing music through the Idrive system! What if you dont have the DVD player on board? just a cd player.

I've got a Dice on the Mini, it doesn't display track info etc on the screen, but works perfectly with steering controls / head unit controls and turns on / off with the car.

I think it is going to be intravee or the Dice Ipod interface. C

Now I just need to work out how to use the bluetooth with Iphone, is that even possible? never used bluetooth since my old Sony Erricson days.

Also need to work out how to update the firmware and Maps on the NAV without paying a fortune.

what car have you got, is it cd or dvd based satnav? i have some discs that maybe of use to update the firmware on the drive, and changes the flash screen to a cool ///m logo.

iPhone will sync with a bluetooth handsfree kit type effort. About the only thing they do seem to sync with :|

I use the standard AUX connection but get annoyed at not being able to change the track using the radio/steering wheel.

Digital speedo in the middle of the rev counter behind the steering wheel, never look at the large speedo.

That is very cool

My mini had a digital speedo in the rev counter on the steering wheel, think they kept it for the R56

I've got Mini Connected. Music & videos show up on the screen just like it would on your iPod. Full control over it through a joystick near the gear lever and the buttons on the steering wheel, don't have to touch the iPod/iPhone once it's plugged in.

These photos aren't of mine but it's indentical to this

Brand new factory only option though

Never got round to it in the E46, but was saving for a dice/intravee or a Dynavin.

With the Mini i just connected an AUX socket. But obviously didn't have track control through the wheel.

What is this? See people on cutters talk about it all the time.

At the moment I just have an ipod lead plugged into the back of the stereo Seth, but it gives you no control over the music so I want to change it.

I retro fitted the genuine bmw ipod connection to my e46 car already had bluetooth but that can b retofitted too,
My ipod adaptor used the cd changer plug, which i didnt need cos i had single cd behind the nav unit in the dash and has steering wheel control etc just no song text
They probly do the same for mini

I use one of these:

edited because of huge image.

and one of these:

Obviously can't use the steering wheel controls for the ipod/iphone, but ease of installation + no modifying of the car bits =
