Could be on its way though, I remember when my gasget blew a while back, about a week before the temperature used to shoot up in the car even while driving, then go down and never settle, yet the radiator was cold, no creamy oil or anything, then it went pop on the way to bradford & was stuck 70 miles from home :(

temp on the dash runs high

Drew

if its thermostat - fan wont cut in cause water wont get hot.

but - radiator being cold after driving - could be thermostat

Wot happens with the temp meter on the dash? run normal - high? low??

looks like it, dont think the head gaskets gone cos i ran the car and left the top off the Coolant tank usually if the head gaskets gone the water boils over doesnt it? also there is no white deposits round the oil filler cap

i dont think it is but it could be the head, my sis had the same problem with hers and i did with my corsa, just an idea

sometimes a bleed valve somewhere, another way that ive done it before is to drain the system, then fill as much as you can. start it running with the rad cap off and watch for the water level falling. When it starts to fall add more water till the level settles down again. Once the fan has been on and off a few times its normally okay.

Only done it this way on an astra that i was having trouble with once, sorted that out tho.... good luck

open the resivior "take lid off" run engine put heater on hot full blast and run the car upto temp squeeze the pipes going to and from the resivior eventually it shoul clear can take up to 30mins

Recently my car has been getting real hot even when not in traffic and wen the weather is cold.

The fan seems to come on constantly and i felt the radiator after a longish drive tonight and it was stone cold. Obviously its a cooling problem nebody ne ideas wot??
