garages wud say that coz they can make more money! trust me! its like out company they carge a customer 2 hours labour time for an inspection of a truck but we can do em in under an hour easily. . .

Taking the maifold actually off would probably require taking the radiator off and all sorts of crap - the labour charge for that lot alone would be stupid.

The main cost for fixing the idling problem is the unit - its only about 10 pound labour for whipping an old one out and sticking a new one in.

vauxhall workshop manual is a haynes manual! i am an apprentice mechanic for scania trucks. . . in the books it says u have to take things off. . . but most guys have there own way of doing things! there is alwayz a quick way to doing things other than the way the book says! it is just that mechanics only know it if they work on that model all the time!

You dont have to take the manifold off at all. Mine went and my mate (a mechanic) took two bolts out slid it out cleaned it down and it was fine after that for about 8 months - vauxhall were going to charge me 115 quid to do it.

I've found the reason why my car is ideling at 1500 - 2000 rpm
cos of idle speed control valve
Being told there can clog up with sh!t. Well its either going to cost me 2 hrs labour for them to Clean it up 9 out of 10 times succesful. Are i can buy a brand new one for extra £70

What shall i do ??

Reason its costing so much its cos its a gsi and u after take manifold off etc to get to it!!

Anyway has anyone else had any problems like this b4 and if so did u solve it with any of the above. Can it harm car when driving it?? I take it its using a lot more fuel as well is this correct??

All help would be gr8
