yeah, if they said that it converts it from the high signal into the low signal then there should be no problem at all!

No i dont have a pic, but i belive (what they told me in the shop) that this is to turn high level input into RCA, i would connect the wire from my amp and wiring kit onto this. Would this mean that when i turn my HU up and down that it'll change the volume of the Sub ? Should this happen?

i think you got the wrong bit. what you need is something that converts a high signal, that would driver the speakers, into a RCA signal, which is very low. what it seems liek you have is just something that would put an RCA fitting onto a normal speaker wire, without changing the signal strenth. you have a pic of it by and chance?

just got off my lazy arse, and the lead i'm talking about has 2 RCA connections (red and white, quite wide) and 5 thin wires all are grey sort of colours. It must be the right thing cos on the wiring kit it refers to this RCA adaptor, and product code which is exactly the same, wot u think ?>

I've bought the Autoleads RCA adaptor, it has the normal RCA leads, and 5 wires that replace speaker wires, (so i was told)

So what wires have you bought? Because the head unit gives an amplified output, but the inputs on an amplifier for say a sub need a signal that has no "volume", just high current signal. if you put a normal volume signal into an rca input of an amp, you're gunna blow it, or its just gunna switch onto protect mode and not work.

Very good suggestion mate, you've also given me the idea that if i look at the wires going into the rear speakers from the stereo, i'll see what colours they are.

the easyest way of doing it if you're feeling lazy is just splicing into them off the 6x9's in the shelf. otherwise you'll have to splice into them right by the cd player and run the cables all the way to the boot. its easyer than splicing them right up by the HU, and then running two extra cables that are carrying exactly the same signal as the sables that are going for the rear speakers. might as well just use the existing cables!!!

Ahhh, i didnt' know that. Any idea which wires i'm looking for? Or any way of finding them

you dont have to loose the back speakers though. you just splice the rca wirtes into the existing wires, keeping youre back speakers and letting you use the sub too. best of both worlds

just get a an amp that u can run the sub and 6x9's from then you'll be laughing :D and you can fit the RCA Adpt without any problems
