(young stupid and rwd dont mix well) GAY comment was tongue in cheek aimed at the fact they are labelled as hairdressers cars by the majority.

Have a quick search on the pistonheads forum, i've genuinely never seen a forum that seems to love the mx5 so much.

Mines a 1.8 Import with a factory lsd. A good friend of mine has a 1.6 UK spec with an open diff and acceleration wise its neck and neck up untill around 80ish then i can pull away slightly. There is a lot more options for forced induction with the 1.6 though if you fancy taking that route. Sign up on http://www.mx5nutz.com awsome bunch of people and full ok useful information. I think the car you posted could well belong to a member on there actually

Those wheels are worth a fair whack even in that state! I picked mine up last summer for £1600 with no fancy wheels, in need of a service and brakes all around. The prie he is asking for the spec is very reasonable. Also worth mentioning about the cambelt on these - if they do snap the engine is a non contact engine so you wont smash any internals. Bang a new belt on and your good to go. One way to tell if it has been done though is if you look at the bar just infront of the crank pulley, the paint is usually marked/gone if the belt has been done. I cant recommend one enough though, so much fun to drive in a spirited manor!

off to view this at some point this week, hes after £1600 tbf i dont want to pay that. the wheels are pealing so £50 a corner for a refurb, no history of a cambelt change £££ and the paint is abit shit. other then that i like the look of the car and think it would be some great summer fun are the 1.6 engines anygood? |
