See i wasnt far off with my £40 gess

Phoned vauxhall there - £35 for a new security card and key without chip. Quite a result since I thought I was looking at over a ton.

Cheers for all the other help, I'm going to have a look for auto locksmiths in the yellow pages or something.

Easiest way would be go back to vauxhall and get one cut from your v5. tell them you dont need it coded as you have not got the original engine fitted.

get a metal dector ..?? or borrow one

yeh alan ive got ignition barrel, drivers door lock and boot lock with 2 keys

My spare doesn't have a chip in, useful when I lock my keys in the car haha.

Iv had to get one before! its £20 to get the codes from vuxhall usng the v5 then aother £20 for the new key thats alrady cut im sure

No sort of key cover, not something I've ever thought about unfortunately. I've looked into getting a spare before, but thought I needed the chipped one so thought there was no point.

dunno how they dod it but when i was working for the rac we had people who went out and made keys at the roadside, do you not have key cover on your insurance?

ive got a driverslock,boot lock and ignition barrel with 2 keys but when i bought the car the passengerside lock was fucked

Got my hopes up there reading your first post there John. Found a couple of places that'll de-code the lock if you take the door lock to a locksmith.

New lock and barrell is about £12 iirc.

:lol: I hadn't even thought about that, if you don't have a spare I doubt many places can do it and my last post is useless.

might just be been thick but how do u get a key cut if you dont have one to cut it from?

If it doesn't need a chip you should be able to get one from anywhere that cuts keys.

As above, I've lost the key for the corsa on the 23rd of last month. I'm thinking it's buried under the snow so until it thaws and I can have a proper look, I'm thinking about getting a new one cut.

I phoned Vauxhall the other day and they've told me it's £100+ VAT for a key with chip. I've not got the security card for it but they've said they can get the lock code from the V5 - but I've since found out that I don't even need to bother with the chip since the XE doesn't use an immobiliser. Has anyone been in this situation and how did you go about getting a new key? Doing a bit of digging on google it looks like you can get a 3rd party company to do it, I'm just looking to see if anyone knows of any good ones.
