Or you can have a draw through setup where the turbo is behind the carb. I've no idea why you'd do that though because the turbo will get fucked. We had to mount the throttle body in front of the turbo on one of our race cars to get through scrutineering, worst idea everrrrrr!

The fuel pressure is easy to over come.. Just use a standard regulator the delivered pressure is relative to manifold pressure.

You've got to pressurise the float chamber because you wont get a venturi effect if the pressure is lower in the float chamber than it is in the venturi. You also need to seal it all otherwise you'll get air leaks and fuel will piss out all over the place. Some carbs already have bearings and joints that are sealed well enough to be able to handle boost, Delortos being one.

I'd shop around but decent management isn't cheap.
Megasquirt isn't really meant to just be a cheap system. An ECU is going to set you back $400 then you'll need all the bits like the loom and sensors. The point in it is you can get the software and set it up yourself, there is support available on the forums as well as maps to get you going. If you bought a GoTech, EFI Technologies, DTA e.t.c... and you wanted support the advice would be to go see someone. The choice is DIY or pay an engine builder to do it for you. In the world of hobbies I think it's much more fun to build the thing myself, where as other people might just be interested in driving the thing :)

was it delorto or webber made turbo carbs? used on an old lotus engine? carb turbo.

I think it was Delorto. I saw an Escort RST on carbs ages ago at Max Power live, think I've got a pic somewhere....

ps, seen as you have management, why are you not using bike throttle bodies? gsxr or something? seems daft to go with programmable ecu then carbs. far more benefits using tb's.

I can Tell you now that's bad advice! No offence to ed, but there are much better After market management systems than that!

Megasquirt is terrible!

who says that?? probably some one trying to sell you an ecu?

it actually has most options that most ecu's have and more than some main stream ones,

there's alot of people using it no problems,

also two people i know running a 8v turbo mk2 astra and tigra running 10's and low 11's so can't be bad aye ;)

oh and i've also got megasquirt ecu :)

You can, you can do whatever you want to them too. As it's an open source project there are loads of mods available for them so you can get a nicely suited setup:

my boss is using a carb fireblade lump with a turbo in a kit car so it does work

you can use carbs with turbo but cant use the standard trumpets. and there is a lot of aftermarket management out there, if i was you i would read up on all of them and see wich one suits you best

Also, as I said in your other post. You won't get bike carbs to work with a turbo because normally carbs will only work on n/a applications. You also don't need management with carbs, you just need something to control the ignition.

Let me lay down the plans....

I have a corsa with a c20ne engine from a calibra, as of yet i have had it chipped, kent cam, lightened and balanced flywheel, induction kit, 4-2-1 manifold bla bla bla.

I am looking for xe plusplusplus power so i decided to go bike carbs, since that decision i have now aquired a garrett turbo and ordered a t25 manifold, after good advice on here (cheers ed) i am going the megasquirt route.

I am 1st of all in need of advice regarding going the yamaha r1 bike carb set up, i.e is this possible? is it a mission? has it been done?

Secondly is there anywhere i can go to have the management set up regarding the carb and turbo together.

Does this seem a good idea to do, any ideas regarding the set up?

Thanks guys.
