If the road was a 60 mph road, I'd quite happily cruise along it at 60 mph in a brand new car while running it in, especially on a VXR with a 6 speed gearbox.
Originally posted by Hamish My crash was at least 40mph if not more. My car looked nothing like that [img]http://www.corsasport.co.uk/carimages/6514/dsc000088.jpg[/ img]
As Ed and Andy have both said, cars these days are designed to completely crumple to absorb the impact, thats what passenger safety is all about. Exactly as Ed said, there is a lot of energy that needs to be absorbed in a crash like that, so anything which isn't absorbed by reshaping the metalwork will pass through to reshapen the people inside instead. I'm not coming to any conclusions at all about the speed the driver was doing, or whether there were failed rear brakes or anything, but just making a couple of points I deem relevant from the posts I've read.
