On a Standard ECU (so standard boost & Ignition settings) LET we fitted an XE Inlet Cam with a Vernier retarded 7 degrees I think it was and the engine put out 240bhp!!! So YES it does make a difference. More so on an engine running Higher boost im led to believe. As mentioned... read MAXBOOST. Great website

Nope, as the distributor is driven by the camshaft. You could actually make it worse in theory.

you can use the exhaust cam but you will most probably need aftermarket management as you need to adjust the cam timing but with the dissy on the other end it throws the ignition timing out

Total vauxhall did a test with an engine and various rolling road tests with standard cams, xe inlet cam etc

read max-boost or ask on vaux-sport. You wont get a technical answer on here, and it does work.

i think that the XE exhaust cam is too aggressive for the LET and would cause the valves to touch the pistons so is no good.

depends on the state of tune tbh. Seen to add 30bhp in some cases.

Thought it may be something to do with that, but why not the XE exhaust cam in then?

ive got the feeling that it is slightly more aggressive/has a slightly longer duration so as a result there is more air in the combustion chamber

Have people actually seen 10+bhp off this mod? Even off a standard engine? |
