i think my xe was about the same mpg as when it was an x14xe, and i thought that was poor untill i got the astra, if anybodys worried about fuel consumption i strongly advise against v6! Driving mega sensible my best is 24mpg. And average driving is 19-20mpg! I need a personal shell garage:lol:

XE is better on fuel than my 1.6 Sport was.

Got 275 out of the tank just now giving it a hard time.

I know it depends on how you drive but most of the time would drive normally to work n back and knocking around but just would be nice to have XE power when you want to smoke a gayboy in a bmw or something

Can do that in an x16xe??

well I know a bloke, reckons he gets 35 mpg out of a c20let in a mk3 astra driving sensible, the same as my 1.4 sport did!

you dont buy an XE, to olny worry about the fuel. It drinks as much as you tell it to with your foot.

Yeah wanted one for a while tbh just my x16xe runs really well but i cant be arsed with tuning that, would just buy a corsa or nova with it all done and sell mine, want to do it fairly soon though as when have a house and start making babies etc would have to get a family car

My xe was about the same as my 1.6. when driving sensible obviously, as long as its running right its very easy to get 300+ how every it is also easy to get sub 200

i get better mpg out of my corsa with an xe than i do about my mk4 astra 2.0l ecotec must just be due to the weight and effort of moving the car

Its 400cc bigger, uses bigger injectors, i would assume the mpg will be lower.

but then again, its a big engine in a little car, so its not pulling as much wieght around as it was designed for.

i would still say worse though.

Well i've just got an xe, and used to have a 1.6... if i'm honest i've hardly noticed a difference.

Had 260 miles out of the xe to a tank yesterday, but that was hammering it, if i'm honest.

Probably get 300+ out of it, just like the 1.6.

was looking at getting a c20xe just wondered what they are like on fuel with steady driving worse or better than 1.6?
