Mine passed at Vauxhall with a de-cat. Just told them it was out of a '90 Astra that didn't need a cat, and it passed.

Was a pain in the arse with my old blue one, even with a CAT and being tested to pre cat emissions it still failed :lol:

The car will have to pass the emissions test for the engine that is fitted, not for the 96/97 car that it is. When I had my LET done with no cat and they said it had failed, I confidently said course it wont you fool, its a 1989 engine! they re-tested it as one and it passed :)

http://www.vosa.gov.uk/vosacorp/repository/7.3%20Emmissions%20-%20Spark%20Ignition%20-%20Passenger%20Cars%201992-2002.pdf

from that your car will need a basic cat mot test, due to being a 96/97 reg because the corsa wont have a 2.0 engine listed.. never know it may pass

Carry out a CAT test
using default limits
Minimum oil temp 60 C
Fast Idle: (2500 to
3000rpm)
CO <= 0.3%
HC <= 200ppm
Lambda 0.97 to 1.03
Idle: (450 to 1500rpm)
CO <= 0.5%

Mine passed without a CAT and is a 93 Dispack engine, i didn't say anything about the year, I think redtops are generally regarded as pre-cat engines.

Giving it a good thrashing is all well and good unless they don't MOT your car until a few hours after you drop it off :lol:

L reg - 1993.

No saying the engine was made in 1993, might be lucky have a early stamp under the oil cap and get the tester convinced its from an pre-cat car!

hes already said it was from an l reg so it needs a cat, i would put loads of red x in and give it a good thrash down a motorway and try and find a decent tester, its amazing what passes when you do

Take the oil cap off, look into the engine for a circled two digit number 89 90 91

thats the engine year, it its any of those you won't have to worry about a CAT

I had problems when i had mine as mine was decatted. Caused so much trouble when i was doing it i found a nice freindly MOT tester and it passed first time.

yes give a dam good thrashing before you pull up to the garage

Most MOT emissions issues are the fact the engine etc are not up to temp

Although most places will not otuch your car if its decatted

Put some decent fuel in say BP 98 (or equiv) and some redex fuel cleaner in the tank and give it a good hard blast before the MOT.

or

Do what i did and find a friendly MOT tester :lol:

Okok... Need to get an emissions test done on the Corsa.

Has anyone done this before, and got as Decat XE through an emissions test? Mine is the late-type XE from an L-Reg car.

Presuming it's running right, would it pass a basic emissions test?
