its pretty obvious that going to fast was the problem, not the brakes. but anyway you could probably get a few hundred quid back in bits, its surprising what people ask for when your splitting a car.

Was gussing that it was a 1.4 sri before which would hae 236? (sorry slighty rusty on corsa specs) oposed to 256mm 16 brakes. I personally think its more down to driver error than the brakes as my 1.4 16v brakes with grooved and drilled discs and grrenstff pads were quite good!

Got to say though when I put 4 pots on my Valver they were superb :)

When insuring converted cars they do ask if the brakes and suspension have been upgraded. Flux do anyway

Its fairly obvious that you need bigger brake to stop more power and more weight.

Jesus fuck that's a sore one! Is he ok!? That's a lesson to folk that bigger brakes should come before power :|

bigger brakes with more surface area are far less likely to lock up in some conditions. also a higher clamping force is much better for stopping you gradually as you need less pedal pressure to pull up to a stop , with the smaller brakes if you need to stop in a hurry you are far more likely to stamp on them suddenly and cause them to lock up.

Ahh i see what ur saying now, less control because uv jumped on them to stop and they lock up

Bought the car like that, told him to get 2.0 Brakes. It was a very very tidy car for an L reg. He locked up in the wet, swerved to avoid a car and hit another car head on at about 40mph.

surely a brake conversion would be better before an engine conversion lol
