TBH, its not really vital anyway. At least three of my cars have failed to have the engine number registered with the doovla. | |

yeh. my inkling is that the 0's are thin, and 8's are quite qide so im going on the basis theyre thin ;) | |

I would imagine both are supposed to be the same number and it's been fucked somewhere or is too dirty/dark e.t.c.. to tell the difference between the 8 and the 0. | |

It's also engraved not cast, so use an engraved number as the cast number would be the part number for the block. | |

It's after the C20XE bit on part of the block where the gearbox case bolts onto. It might be feint. | |

right. turns out it is an xe block its just been heavily powdercoated. | |

i heard that on earlier blocks they were on the transmission side at the back right, and then on later engines it was transferred to the actual block. | |

the engine number is next to the gearbox on xe's and does run on the diagonal bit next to the dip stick, if it isnt there, the block may have been replaced with an 8 valve block, if so the engine number is on top of the block, but with it having a 16v head you wont be able to see the number. | |

Im sending some stuff off to the dvla and need my Engine number. Not the C20XE code part but the 8 digit number. |
