x14xe has done roughly 115000 miles runs without any problems, driven on a daily basis, ragged daily hardly ever from cold. no issues whatsoever

i think its all a bit silly.

yeh dont rape it when cold but go steady.

Engines are made to be driven - just drive them nicely.

On mine i usually set off right away and just change every 15mph till i get to the main road, where normally the first bar on my temp gauge is up (green), meaning then i drive it normally.

edit - and all cars ive owned have been fine. Even the sxi i had which i ragged everywhere from bone cold. :)

letting an engine idle when cold does more harm than good anyway, because for those first few minutes you're still some minor engine damage (since the oil is cold) but no milage at all. Its much better to start it and drive it.

Up to about 3k rev is fine when cold, but i wouldnt go over that in a petrol. On my diesel i dont go over 2k when cold, but thats mainly because i can drive my diesel without ever needing to go over 2k, in my petrol you'd never get anywhere changing at 2k.

fuckin hell!!,sounds like u baby it a bit too much!,i rev mine upto 3000 rpm from cold, only give it about 10 secs from starting up to setting off and after about 8-10 mins i nail it,i have a mate with an x14xe he thrashes it everywhere and thrashes from cold his has done around 95k and his engine sounds so sweet,a vauxhall mechanic said its one of best x14xe hes drove

So basically the x16xe will be the same - as there isnt much difference at all

Im on 105k on my x14xe, runs absolute fine. I change oil and filter every 4000, and plugs everysecond time i change the oil! Always let tick over for a minute of two, then drivin gently (never over 2.5k rpm) for first 8mins and then gradually on to about 3.5k after that! Seems to work fine for me! The engine is extremely quiet and smooth on tick over and pulls fine! Its all about how you look after them!

Got 67k on mine at the min and going to run into the ground......just wondered how many miles some of you lot have clocked up in these and problems encountered with high mileage. Changing oil every 5000 and always let the engine warm up before being thrashed so should get 150k out of it?? maybe :o
