Harman Kardon stuff is like Bang & Olufsen, flashy stuff with a stupidly high price tag - audio gear doesn't sound too bad from either company, but you could get something that's 50 times better for similar cash.

But if the car comes with it then it going to be a lot better over standard stuff so worth having - but like said it's a pain in the rear if you plan to upgrade in the future

Apparently the hk isnt that much better, obviuosly if you have the choice of either than go for it. As said its quite a mission upgrading to it, need new loom amp etc, gets expensive...also subs are prone to blowing...

Upgrading is difficult with HK so beware. Your end up needing to replace the whole lot - the amps only work with the speakers etc IIRC

If you wanted to get a decent after market setup I'd go with a car without HK and use that as a point to get a reduction on the car ;)

Would have been an upgrade from the BMW concert stereo in a 318 iirc

Its not an extra I paid for, but if its got it, may as well, then if I want to upgrade further I can do another day

Yeh quite good mate; i had the upgrade in my M roadster; however the sub did blow and i ended up upgrading!

To be honest the Ford upgrade in the focus sounded better than the BMW upgrade

the name itself is worth it, by putting an HK sticker in your car, standard speakers will sound better...

No seriously, one of the best you can get IMO

Im looking at a 318ci SE at the weekend and just wondered what they sounds would be like, always been into upgrading etc, but cant be arsed rather find a car with a decent std system in. So this would appear to be a good all rounder
