My head casket went in Reading just the other week (luckily I'd joined the RAC the week before (half price too) so got a 190mile tow home.

Cost £220 and a week to get it fixed, new head gasket, new oil filter and oil change.

car is a 1.2 8v breeze edition, the car is belt driven as far as i can see i was there when the lad pressure tested it,sometimes in the morning when warming the car up i noticed a eggy smell when my mate opens the door to get out could this be the problem with the exhaust gases as you mentioned burgess.iv been goin to this garage for the past 4 months and they are spot on everytime i go there.

when i first bought the car it needed a thermostat,so i took it to the garage round the corner from work as it seemed handy, but ever since i took my car there to have the thermostat done iv had nothing but problems with the car also the guy seemed dead cocky.when passing this garage goin to work the other day i noticed cars half stripped round the back of the garage which makes me believe the guy has been removing the good parts from customers cars and replacing them with old parts from the scrap cars and guess what whas hiding round the corner yes.... a half stripped corsa very suspisious grrrrrrrrrr

x12xe by looking in his garage?
rare for one of them to blown the head gasket and its chain driven
they do have problems with leaking water pumps tho
hope you aint getting conned mate
were you there when they tested it for head gasket faliure?
they should have block tested the cooling system with a blue dye that should turn yellow if exhaust gases are present in the coolant
if not the head gasket should be ok then they should pressure test the coling system to check for any leaks from water pump etc

i pulled up to the gym carpark today and when i walked round to the front of the car i noticed greeny water dripping from under the front of the car, this happend to me bowt 3 months ago and i had a new fan switch fitted which sorted it for a couple of months anyway i drove round to the garage i usually go to and had it checked out by the same lad and it turns out to be my head gasket.

so he gave me a quote for a brand new head gasket professionally skimmed and fitted with a brand new water pump and timing belt also fitted £250,i had been to few other garages and they quoted me the exactly same.my car is in the garage rite and aint gona get it back for 2-3 days, how am i gonna cope :boggle: :boggle: :boggle: :boggle:
