I've got the TomTom 5 software and all the best voices but not got the receiver as yet, would much prefer to use my Nokia 6600 as Sat Nav, prolly John Cleese or Joanna Lumley as the voice

I bought a Navman 330 and it's excellent at £179 (prolly cheaper on Ebay). Only problem with it is that I think it's more suited to the USA or Australia since it only manages 5 digit post(zip)codes (USA 5, Australia 4).

I have a Tomtom 300, don't think they do them anymore. But I should imagine the basics will be the same with all Tomtom's if so you won't be disappointed. I could'nt be without mine now.

quote: yes it re-routes straight away when you go off-course, if it cant find another way it tells you to turn around. not sure if it gets you out of traffic jams, i know the tomtom on my phone has the option for traffic reports and many other tomtom's but not sure about tomtom 1, i cant use mine as i didnt pay for my tomtom software, hehe.. it has the speed camera locations in it and you can download updates off the internet for new cameras.

does the tomtom 1 help avoid traffic jams and does it re-route you if you go off course?

My dad let me use his tomtom for a few days when I was down the road.... I'm now looking at buying one too  The speedcamera alert is handy too when you're in unfamiliar areas that cop and change between 30 and 40 limits.
