I would agree here, although it does take the fun out of it, and once your insurance know you have an engine conversion they will want to know about every other tiny mod that they can rip you off for!

oh, and you can fit an X14XE, C16XE, X16XE, Z16XE, or Z18XE using an F13 or F15 gearbox.

the Z18XE would be a pain though, as its got silly wiring.

X16XE is probably the best bet really.

if you're capable with a spanner, you can do it.

me and broster did mine in a week (half of which was faffing around not doing it) and we just jumped in feet first really, didnt know how hard it was gonna be or what to expect.

if you work through logically, you cant go wrong.

Very easy so long as you have the loom and ECU of the engine being transplanted

Aiming to do an engine conversion on my corsa 1.0ltr 1999 soon.

Looking at putting like a 1.6 or a 1.4 in, wanna keep it as it is in very very good nic and the shell has done only 40k miles. Plus i have personalised it etc.

Basically anything bigger than the one that is in but not 2.0ltr!!!

I was wondering how much it is gunna cost to get it done properly (excluding the engine)? Then i can compare it against doing it myself, of course doing it myself would be more satisfying, good experience and could be a lot of fun!!!

As my dad has done a couple of engine transplants on like old scimitars and he could give me a bit of help, but otherwise it will be me (just about to start my automotive engineering degree) working away at it... (having researched guides, books net etc!!!)

I have got a big garage, all the tools needed etc, just need an engine crane that i could borrow from my mates garage near by. (Plus i could go to him for extra help!!!)

Any opinions / ideas

Pref no criticism!!!

THanks/.
