Originally posted by robmarriott i had less than 131bhp (just) but i had 288s i agree with you in principle though :)
I have got 256mm on my 1.4 runabout and they fade like you would not believe, so putting them on a car that can go 120mph+ is not a good idea. And on a 2nd note I don’t believe the 288mm brakes are good enough for a LET. Brakes suspension and tyres are not to be done on the cheap if you want to protect your investment. Modifying your car to go fast is not cheap so don’t do it cheap, it’s not worth it You go and look at a fast car (i.e. 911) that will do lets say 170mph (that’s what a 300bhp corsa will do) and go look at the brakes. Bet there bigger than most people’s wheals, is that over kill or do they know something that 80% of people don’t know? People just think “I can put a XE/LET in for about £1000 - £1500” Wrong! You then need to spend that again to do it right. A XE/LET that is well set up will be faster and be more fun and safer than one that’s been done on the cheap. And when you’re at a shoe ones that have been done on the cheep stick out like a big ZIT!!! [Edited on 13-08-2006 by Tappits]
