the crankcase only vents internally to the cam box anyway, there is sufficient oil ways and e.t.c in the head to allow the oil to drain down to the sump and any gases to escape into the rocker cover! Never had a problem with mine and have done this to many competition engine in the past mate.

but surely the crankcase would need to be vented somehow?

removed the dipstick?

You find that when pulling high rpm the oil gets thrown up the back of the block, this along with any blow by from the pistons pushes the oil up the rear breather instead of acting as breather it starts to pump oil up to the rocker cover and cause oil surge.

thought it was a 1.6 16v bottom.

why is the crank breather blocked off?

Ghey CC

[quote="Chris Astley Motorsport"]Here are some pics of it state about 2-3 weeks ago looking in a sorry state! Hadnt touched it since last august when i broke a piston in the motor and never got round to fixing it!

And here it is after what i have done recently, built my new engine and got everything back to gether! Just givin it a wash as it was looking a rather dirty! Still aiming to get to pvs in it next weekend if i manage to get it mapped ok! Its far quicker than i thought it would be, so much so i have smoked the standard clutch in 4 miles!

Just off now to pick up a paddle clutch and heavy duty pressure plate! Hopefully get it fitted today and get the wiring finished!
