No probs! People just assume about F20's and F28's!

Common misconception here!

I'm going to compare an F28 with both F20's. This is with 195/45/16 tyres and at my rev limiter of 7500rpm (though in actual fact the stack shows it revs a little bit further).

F28(3.72) 038 064 095 125 154 186

F20(3.55) 041 067 097 127 162
F20(3.72) 039 064 093 122 154

So it shows that one F20 actuallyhas LONGER gears, and the other is pritty much the same. So F20's don't have better acceleration :P

someone on mig made an f13 fit a 2.0 8v so im sure the f15 could be made to fit but it would be a big waste of time and money!!

I would also rule out an F28 unless your planning big power

Leaves you with choice of f16cr (make sure it is a cr) and f20, the f20 will return better top end an fuel econemy but acceleration will be better with f16cr

f15cr in the sport not useable on a 2.0

So its kind of a basterd/mongrel gearbox then :o

yeah but not a dog box

f16 has same ratios as f20 with longer final.... not as strong though

So f20 better accelreation
f28 better top speed?

the f20 IIRC has closer ratios. And obviously 1 gear less.

The f28 has a much higher top speed capability as F20 tops out at liek 135/9 :boggle:

something like that, IMO waste of time and money putting an f28 on anything other than a c20let or an XE running silly silly power.

Also the cost of an f28 is quite a fair bit more than an f20

I am confused also :P
So if i fitted the 6 speed box are they better with acceleration/top speed aswell as being able to withstand more power being put through them?

the gearbox in the corsa GSi's are F15 as its the smaller block :)

Correct.

On an XE an F20 is suited (as used in cav gsi etc) so it was the original intended gearbox. 5speed

F28 more common on the C20LET conversions alltho using an f20 is perfectly acceptable too. F28 has 1 more gear and weighs a bit more, but can withstand 280ilbs of torque whereas f20 manages 200

For an XE an F20 would be fine, can be had cheap (£50) alltho some people use F16? IIRc this is out of a gsi but dont know to much on that one

:)

Right, i aint too well up on gearboxes so wondering what different gearboxes people use for there XE conversions and what is the differences in them, i.e. what is the better one. Think i've heard either F28 or F20 before now as the common ones?
